Moving to your new San Diego home can be invigorating and exhausting. San Diego homebuyers are excited about buying their new home and starting on the path towards financial success. And, having an organized move to a San Diego home can keep the exhausting part to a minimum. Many successful moves later, these are the best tips that I can offer:
- Have 1/3 more boxes and several more roles of tape than you imagine you would every need. Nothing slows the momentum more than running out of moving supplies. Also, have a thick black marker for each person that is helping or at least five available. Experience shows that the markers will be misplaced and sometimes even packed!
- Ask for help weeks ahead of time. Schedule your friends in shifts, the weekend before the move, a few days before the move and the day of the move.
- Organize your packing method. Determine the spaces in your new San Diego home. Draft a master plan i.e. Kitchen, Master Bathroom, Family Room, Garage, etc. Make a sign for each room and the day of the move, post the sign either in the room or at the entrance to the room. This will keep the question of “which room is he family room?” to a minimum. When packing, mark the boxes clearly with the corresponding room name on the top and the side(s).
The last bit of advice is to have someone available to pick up, deliver and set up lunch for you and your San Diego moving team. And, of course, keep the beverages flowing…holding off on the beer until after the boxes are safely in your new home. Hope this helps! Enjoy your move!
